I wonder if the Society will announce a letter writing campaign, or just let their loyal brainwashed followers rot in jail for no good reason!

"The Truth", who coined the term, when did it begin circulating in JW land
by Bob Loblaw inanytime i hear one of my family members or any other jw say the phrase "the truth" in a sentence it makes my blood boil.
christians of different denominations may ask each other: .
"how long have you been a christian?".

I really hate that phrase too. It will always remind me of the Witnesses and being a dub. I don't know when it started, but it's gotten a lot of mileage.

What birthday age depressed you the most?
by FreedomFrog inmy birthday is coming up in a month.
i'm 35 and i'm so depressed about turning 36. i've heard people really get down when they were turning 25, 30, and other ages but non of my birthday's bothered me this much until now.
turning 36 is so depressing and i think it's because here i am single again trying to now start my career, my credit, my whole life over.

I thought my worst birthday was 30, until I turned 50. Oh well.
Looks like you've got a lot in your basket. Starting life over is hard, but can be a great opportunity. You are getting your education, and it may seem like a long cycle, but you are investing in yourself. You will never regret the time, money, and effort you put into it. Be proud that you are taking control. There's a lot of good advice out there about handling money and finances. Find out what works best for you and your situation. Your college campus may offer help with someone to talk to about stress, career and finances. I took advantage of these services, and it was free!

moved on
by dogon inwell i have moved, for real, i lived with my husband of 25 years only 3 miles from my mother and father.
it seems that most of the witnesses they preferred to associate with, have all been disfellowshipped or divorced, or separated.
they have not called me or tried to visit me for over 2 years.

Welcome dogon! This is a great place. I had to live through the 1975 lie too. It messed up my life for a while, but I turned it around. When you get a chance, please share your story.

Life lost
by Phil ini have previously posted on the subject of finding people who could help me get some testimonials from experienced jws who have been shunned by friends and family.
this was my way of getting my daughter to wake up to the realities of what is going on with the organization she is associated with.
much to my sadness, i have been notified by her husband that she died this morning of lung cancer.

Positive changes in your life since leaving WBTS
by Mrs Smith infor me it's the friendships i have made with people that would have been considered too wordly to be friends with while i was still a jw.
leaving behind the guilt of never been good enough or doing enough.
celebrating the birthday of my precious children making them feel like king and queen for the day.

This is 38 Years' friend and I'm posting for her so she gives an objective viewpoint (either that or she's really lazy today). There are SO many changes in her that it's almost impossible to list them all. I've known her for 11.5 years now and I can honestly say that she's not the same person.
- She's a much happier person - she used to walk around with her shoulders hunched, scowling, keeping her eyes to the ground. Now she looks you in the eye, accepts compliments, and is...dare I say it...BUBBLY! She's a joy to be around now.
- She used to complain about one thing or another all the time and now she's bragging about how much better her life is and how she wants to help others feel the freedom she does.
- She is a blast to be around for holidays and birthdays. She feels she has to make up for lost time so every event is a celebration. We even celebrate Arbor Day.
- She's free to think now. Although I catch her in circular Borg-like thinking occasionally, she really does have a mind of her own now and it seems to be liberating for her.
- She's a a better mom who lets her child be himself. She relishes his free thought and supports all his activities. He's a much happier child who is going to make a name for himself some day.
- She promises to register to vote if Hillary makes through the primaries!!!
I'm sure there are more, but those are the most apparent. I have to post this quickly before she gets out her editing pen.
38 Years' Friend for 11 of them

So..You donate your money, and then you have to pay intrest on it??!!
by Lady Liberty ingood morning everyone "happy thursday!!",.
just reading another thread, and it made me think of a question i could never answer as a jw.
how is it that when your hall wants to build, you recieve the "loan" from the society, but then you have to pay the loan back with intrest??!!.
-

I confirmed this with my JW mom on a new KH they are building. (She signed up to bring food) . Anyway, she said yes, they would be paying back with interest. Funny, I had forgotten about the monthly payments the Halls make to the Society. While a dub, I honestly thought that the poor Society needed to get the money back for other Theocratic needs. They didn't have any income except for donations. My eyes and thoughts were really glazed over!
